Just about every Smartphone on the market now has voice control, Windows has its Cortana, iOS has Siri and Android has theirs as well. ZTE just announced their Star 2 Smartphone that takes voice controls to the next level, like most smartphones on the market the Star 2 allows the user to take a picture, play music, launch an app, or even download third-party apps using only your voice.
The difference with the Star 2 is that you can use the voice controls even when you don’t have an internet connection. According to the company, there are more than 1000 patents involved in its phone, 158 of which are related to voice control.
The phone also supports motion/gesture-based features, such as the ability to tap the power button and then bring it to your ear to start making a call, the phone will ask who you want to call and you simply say a name from your contact list and the handset will dial.
Other than its voice controls, the Star 2 is powered by an Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage plus a 2300mAh battery. It also comes fitted with a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, it also has dual cameras; an 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash and a 5MP front camera with an 88 degree wide-angle lens.
ZTE has no plans on when the Star 2 will be available in the United States, however the unlocked model is now available in China for about $400. We are expected to have more details about the Star 2 during CES 2015.
